Frequently Asked Questions

What is the bear watching success rate?

Over 15 years of operation, our Carpathian hides deliver bear sightings on over 95% of sessions. Bears are habituated to the hides and arrive reliably at dusk. You will observe wild brown bears in their natural Carpathian forest habitat.

How many bears will I see per session?

Typically 2–6 individual bears per hide session. Some evenings feature a sow with cubs or competing males — truly spectacular encounters. Your guide will identify individuals they know personally.

Are the hides ethical and legally licensed?

Yes. Our partner hides are licensed by Romsilva (Romanian state forestry authority) under strict wildlife welfare guidelines. Supplementary feeding uses only natural foods — corn, sunflower, apples. No meat baiting or attractants that change bear behaviour.

Can I combine this with the Delta tour?

Absolutely — we offer combined packages combining 4 or 5 days in the Danube Delta with 3–4 days of Carpathian bear watching. This is our most popular combination for international visitors. Contact us for package pricing.

What camera setup works best for bear photography?

A 300–500mm lens is ideal for the hides where bears approach within 30–80 metres. A monopod or beanbag helps in low light. ISO performance matters — modern mirrorless cameras handle the dusk conditions very well. Our guides can advise on positioning.

How do I get to Brașov for this tour?

Brașov is 165km from Bucharest OTP airport (2 hours by car). Direct trains run from Bucharest Gara de Nord to Brașov in 2.5–3 hours. Budget airlines serve Bucharest from most European cities. We can arrange airport transfers on request.
