Tulcea is the starting point for all Danube Delta wildlife experiences. Board the floating hotel at Tulcea Port, meet your naturalist guide, and cruise into one of Europe's richest wetland ecosystems.
Tulcea (population ~70,000) sits at the point where the Danube splits into its three main branches before reaching the Black Sea. It is the administrative capital of Tulcea County and the only practical gateway to the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. Ibis Tours is based here — our floating hotel moors at Tulcea Port between cruises, and all our delta programmes begin and end in the city. The ARBDD (Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Authority) headquarters is also in Tulcea, where we hold our operator permits.
